Khetarpaul Hospital, Hisar was established in 1981. The present hospital building is located in Green Square, the commercial heart of Hisar City. Its modern, beautiful, neat & clean six storied building houses 20 patient-beds. It has a very spacious parking in front and faces Delhi-Hisar highway which is just 500 yards away.
The building is visible from the main road even at night because of its neon sign which prominently shines on its top. Many a food joints and shopping malls are all around. It is managed by Dr. N. K. Khetarpaul who is MD in Medicine and has experience in treating medical, psychiatric, critical and drug addiction cases since 1974.
The hospital is also a designated Psychiatric Nursing Home duly licensed by Govt. of Haryana under Mental Health Act 1985.
As you enter the hospital you see a corridor with waiting sofas on the left and a small pharmacy, reception counter and doctors offices on the right. The patient meets a friendly receptionist cum enquiry officer at the reception counter. The patients record system is fully computerized since 1992. All data is entered into a special computer application designed and prepared by Dr N.K.Khetarpaul himself.
The patients’ id data is entered into the computer at reception desk. They are asked whether they have come earlier or it is a first time entry. All patients have a unique OPD number and patients basic information like name, sex, date of birth or age, address, phone number etc is recorded. The record of previously registered or old patients is updated.
Fee is charged as applicable and receipt is generated in the computer. We do not print all receipts to save paper and trees. The patient has the option of taking the print out on paper. We have put up a notice at reception desk telling patients about this. All other fees like chrges for lab tests or indoor fees is also deposited at the receipt and receipt is similarly generated in the computer immediately. As soon as patient’s name is entered into one computer, his name comes alive on the screens of allother computers including the doctor’s office. All the visitors, especially pharmaceutical companies representatives who come to see the doctor also get themselves entered into reception desk computer.
The patients are then guided to the farthest end of the corridor which has emergency room (ER) having 5 beds. There he meets a friendly and a highly experienced junior doctor who deputes a staff nurse or a compounder to record the patients height ,weight, temperature, pulse and blood pressure and other measurements like Spo2, BMI, body fat, chest, hip, waist cicumference etc if necessary. Preliminary history and examination is done by the the junior doctor. All this data is entered into ER’s computer, which in turn is connected to other computers in doctors’ offices, Lab,reception and doctor’s home upstairs etc. He may order labs for the patient and indicate this in front of his name or indicate on computer that the patient may be called in doctor’s office for examination and further necesaary action by the doctor.
